Welcome
General Practice Tasmania – together with the wider Tasmanian network comprising General Practice North, General Practice North West and General Practice South – is transitioning to become Tasmania Medicare Local as part of the national health reform agenda for primary health care. Medicare Locals aim to support the day-to-day delivery of better integrated GP and primary health care services in the community, ensuring more patients can get the care that they need in the right settings. By building on our general practice networks and partnerships, General Practice Tasmania is looking forward to expanding its scope to include the primary health care community more broadly.
It is anticipated that statewide implementation of the new Tasmania Medicare Local company structures will be in place for 1 November 2011. As part of the transition we will be rebranding and this includes a new website.
