Aboriginal Health Program Officer: Closing The Gap (Part-Time 0.8 FTE)

General Practice Tasmania is seeking a capable and enthusiastic person to work in partnership with members, local communities and other stakeholders to increase access to mainstream primary care for Aboriginal people. The program officer will work as part of a statewide team to support the implementation of a range of Closing the Gap initiatives. This position is offered on fixed-term contract and will be based in Hobart.

The position is attractively remunerated in accordance with the General Practice Tasmania Network Enterprise Agreement with access to generous salary packaging arrangements. 

The successful applicant will be a team player with exceptionally well developed communication and networking skills; who has a sound understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal health issues, priorities and policies; is motivated to work in a dynamic health care environment; possesses relevant experience and qualifications and demonstrates a commitment to continual quality improvement.  The capacity to work under pressure, show initiative and exercise sound judgement in responding to changing priorities is essential. People with experience in successfully partnering with Aboriginal organisations and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are especially encouraged to apply.
