General Practice North

General Practice North works with the community and healthcare providers to achieve optimal health for our population. The Division has an active and committed GP population who recognise that the delivery of healthcare is a partnership between providers and patients. This partnership is reflected in the level of integration, consultation and widespread stakeholder engagement in program design, development, delivery and evaluation.

General Practice North runs a dynamic program of services and projects drawing funds from a number of core and alternate sources. This Division has a long and active history of alternate funds sourcing that has culminated in the establishment of a successful subsidiary service company for general and other health practice. In doing so, the Division has been able to significantly broaden its service portfolio and strengthen its local support role for general practice and other health providers.

The Divisions core programs reflect the full range of national priorities for the profession and Divisions of General Practice, including:

  • Workforce support
  • Allied health engagement
  • Consumer interaction
  • Service integration
  • Chronic disease management
  • Robust governance and preventative health.

General Practice North has a strong regional and state-wide presence in regard to health program and service provision and aims to maintain a strong national leadership role through ongoing involvement in innovative service trial and development. General Practice North wishes to cement its role as a regional facilitator of integration and innovative solution development through engagement of community consultation.

The Division is committed to maintenance and strengthening of state-wide partnerships and collaboration with other Divisions, our SBO and network partners.
