Policy and Position Statements
The Network Policy Group
The Network Policy Group acts as the key mechanism for use by members of the General Practice Tasmania Network in developing positions on behalf of Tasmanian GPs on matters that are of relevance across the State.
The functions of the group include:
- To support network members in responding to requests for GP input into statewide health services policy development and planning
- To facilitate consultation with Tasmanian GPs about their views on various issues relevant to the operation of the health services system in Tasmania
- To provide a forum that enables nominated GPs from each of the Boards, and other GP organisations where appropriate, to discuss the implications of statewide policies and plans
- To form positions that appropriately and adequately reflects the views of the GP community in Tasmania.
Membership
The Network Policy Group is comprised of the following members:
- Chair (or nominee), General Practice Tasmania (Chair)

- Chair (or nominee), General Practice North
- Chair (or nominee), General Practice North West
- Chair (or nominee), Health Recruitment Plus (formerly General Practice Workforce)
- Chief Executive Officer, General Practice South

- Chief Executive Officer, General Practice North West
- Chief Executive Officer, Health Recruitment Plus (formerly General Practice Workforce)
- Chief Executive Officer, General Practice Tasmania
- Deputy Chief Executive Officer, General Practice Tasmania
- Coordinator State Government Liaison, General Practice Tasmania (Secretariat)
The Group will also have the capacity to co-opt additional members if additional expertise is warranted in relation to a specific policy issue or if representation from another GP organisation is considered relevant or beneficial.
Flexibility will be used in defining the membership of the group both to retain the capacity for specific interest, expertise and experience to be utilised and to ensure a pragmatic, efficient and responsive mechanisms are established.
