  Overview

The Information Services Program provides member organisations with a consistent state-wide service for the collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of key performance and health status indicators and trends at both state and regional levels consistent with the needs of the Divisions Network within Tasmania.

Program Objectives

The Information Services Program supports the needs of members in the following key areas:

  • Facilitating Clinical Data Quality Improvement within the primary health care sector

  • Conducting the annual GP Census

  • Producing the Primary Health Indicators – Tasmania (PHIT) Reports

  • Supporting the Divisional Information Management Maturity Framework (IMMF)

Program Initiatives

 

Clinical Data Quality Improvement

The Clinical Data Quality Improvement Program aims to support Tasmanian divisions achieve improvements in the quality and use of general practice data. The program currently supports many of the goals of the Australian Primary Care Collaborative (APCC), population health and chronic disease management and eHealth activities.

 

GP Census

The annual Census is used to collect essential information to enable us to monitor the status of the Tasmanian general practice workforce and to help us plan for the future. Each year the Census is also used to collect additional data of particular interest to the members of the General Practice Tasmania network in supporting the GP community.

 

Primary Health Indicators - Tasmania (PHIT)

As part of  the Information Management Program, General Practice Tasmania undertakes the collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of key primary health performance and health status indicators and trends at both state and regional levels consistent with the needs of the Divisions Network within Tasmania.

 

Divisional Information Management Maturity Framework (IMMF)

The IMMF is a management tool for internal use within Divisions to help develop information management (IM) plans for continuous improvement in capacity, linked to Divisional program service delivery priorities and business opportunities. This framework has been developed specifically for use by Divisions of General Practice in Australia.

  • Divisions of General Practice (DGPs) within Tasmania
